தேங்காய் உடைத்தால்தான் எண்ணெய் கிடைக்கும்
Thengaai udaiththaal thaan ennai kidaikkum
Meaning
Only by breaking the coconut and pressing its flesh do you get oil - there's no meaningful result without real effort behind it.
Story
A new shopkeeper, hoping to skip the hard work of extracting oil, kept looking for oil without ever breaking a single coconut. Days passed and he got not a drop. An elder finally told him: "nothing comes without the effort, son."
Reader's Note
Nothing worth having skips the work it actually takes to get there.
