The second of the four இலக்கண வகை types: a வினைச்சொல் denotes an action. It splits first into முற்று (a complete, finite verb ending a sentence) and எச்சம் (an incomplete verb form linking to what follows).

Take any Tamil sentence and remove its வினைச்சொல் and it collapses into a fragment - the verb is what makes it a complete thought.

செய்தான் (முற்று - "he did"); செய்து (எச்சம் - "having done").
